Where is Selwyn?
Selwyn is nestled in the NSW Snowy Mountains, located in the beautiful Northern section of Kosciuszko National Park, Selwyn Snow Resort is open between the June and October long weekends. Selwyn is just 7kms from Kiandra, the birthplace of Australian snow sports during the Kiandra Gold Rush of the 1860’s.
Sydney: 5 – 6.5hrs (approx. 500km)
Melbourne: 5 – 7.5hrs (approx. 500km)
Canberra: 2.5hrs (approx. 200kms)
Wagga Wagga: 2.5hrs (approx. 200km)
Albury: 2.5 – 3.5hrs (approx. 220km)
Cooma: 1.5hrs (approx. 70km)
Adaminaby: 45mins (approx. 30km)
Talbingo: 45mins (approx. 60km)
Selwyn is one of the closest ski resort options for NSW’s major cities and a comfortable drive from almost anywhere else in the state. Drive safely and enjoy the beautiful and unique Snowy Mountains scenery.
It is advised that all 2WD vehicles carry properly fitting chains at all times on the Snowy Mountains Highway from June to September. These can be hired at most service stations on your way to Selwyn Snow Resort, and these can also be brought from The Selwyn Gift Shop at Selwyn Snow Resort.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service charge a fee to enter Kosciusko National Park.
Each vehicle is required to pay $29 per vehicle per day. More information regarding park entry fees can be found on the website www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au.
Canberra Airport – Qantas operate daily flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and Rex fly from Sydney to Canberra.

Do i need anything to drive in the snow?
You need chains!
It is advised to carry chains when driving to Selwyn. You can hire chains from any major petrol station or ski hire in Cooma, Adaminaby or Tumut. But you can aslso buy them from the resort in The Selwyn Gift Shop. Make sure you get a technician to demonstrate how to put them on and take them off, and be sure you can do it yourself before you leave.
How much fuel do you need?
A full tank of fuel.
It sounds pretty obvious, but many guests every year find themselves in a position where they need to call the NRMA because they forgot to fill up. There is no petrol or diesel available at Selwyn Snow Resort. Petrol Stations are located in Cooma, Adaminaby, Talbingo and Tumut on your way to Selwyn.
